Volunteer Testimonials
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our rehabilitation efforts!
Our incredible wildlife stewards donate at least four hours a week to care for our wildlife patients. The volunteer crew comprises of individuals from many backgrounds, including dentists, lawyers, teachers, engineers, landscapers, and many other fields. Our volunteers come from near and far to assist in our rehabilitation facility every week. We have volunteers who travel from other counties, ride the ferry, and live just down the road from the Shelter.
For our dedicated and compassionate volunteer crew, there is no distance too far for them to answer the call to action. Rain or shine, or even snow, our volunteers show up ready to work for the cause.
Everyone there is AWESOME! Thank you to all of you for the excellent care you give the animals you receive there!! Marlene C.
I have volunteered at the West Sound Wildlife Shelter for a few years now. I have had a live long love of birds, and felt the volunteer position was a great fit to enhance that love with action. The addition of also caring for mammals has been an unexpected bonus. Holding an orphaned baby squirrel to feed it is an unbelievable feeling! I also now work with the education raptors and am thrilled that these proud birds trust me to handle them. There are less glamorous parts of the position also, the cleaning up – but it is ALL worth it when you see a recovered patient released back into the wild. The Shelter does so much to help give injured or orphaned wildlife a second chance at life. I am honored to be a part of that effort. Thank you for supporting the Shelter, I can tell you first hand, your donations are much appreciated. Barbara Z.
I really love volunteering at the West Sound Wildlife Shelter. It is hard work but, “it is all about the animals” and I love it! Sheila R.
