Please join executive directors Lisa Horn of West Sound Wildlife Shelter and Debra Ruzinsky of Bainbridge Arts and Crafts in their one-of-a-kind, limited edition art auction benefiting both of their amazing organizations. This incredible and generous opportunity is made possible by a local Bainbridge Island couple, Tom Lonner and Elizabeth Ward.
We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Tom in November 2021. Tom held a Ph.D. in Sociology and was an avid tennis player and sailor. He also loved collectible maritime maps and deeply appreciated fine art. Tom had a unique view on life and a remarkable voice regarding global issues. Tom is greatly missed.
Tom and Elizabeth became great friends with Henry Dietrich and his wife while living in the Bay Area. It was a deep and rich friendship, so Henry bequeathed more than 400 of his paintings to them upon his death.
The couple pondered the fate of such an extensive collection, wondering if they could make a more significant impact by facilitating the sale of Henry's works. Elizabeth, a board member of West Sound Wildlife Shelter (WSWS), decided to allow the organization to sell the art and use the proceeds to support its operations. While the shelter was grateful, they needed assistance to sell these stunning art pieces—enter Bainbridge Arts & Crafts.
West Sound Wildlife Shelter and Bainbridge Arts & Crafts sincerely thank Tom Lonner and Elizabeth Ward for their enduring gift.
